S-CRAFT SHUTTER SALE!
This weekend is going to be very busy for The Pole Company as we are going on a road trip to Swindon, specifically the National Self Build and Renovation Centre (NSBRC) as this weekend is their Big Green Home show!
The aim of The Big Green Home Show is to help anyone looking to build their own property or renovate a house to do so with sustainable systems. There are numerous events taking place throughout the day and just over 250 exhibitors and eco experts on hand. Anybody who is central to the green house building/renovating market will be at The Big Green Home Show so this really is the place to be this weekend!
The Pole Company will be manning our Swindon stand in the NSBRC. Highlighting our environmentally friendly products including shutters,blinds and awnings. On the Friday we will have two very special guests, our favourite Silent Gliss Reps, both experts on all things Slient Gliss! A very special treat for anyone visiting!
On the Saturday and Sunday both the Boss and Fitter will be there to take all of your queries and hopefully help you on the path to building an eco-home!

The year is 2044. Time Travel has not yet been invented but 30 years from now, it will have been. As soon as it is invented it will be immediately outlawed, with only few using it in secret including Doc Brown, The Terminator and The Pole Company.
In the present, we employ Loopers. Loopers are individuals that pick up new curtain pole ranges sent back from the future by outlaw designers and pass them onto businesses like us, and they become a part of history if you like.
Wait, that doesn’t make sense? Hey, don’t think too hard about the risk of temporal paradoxes. This time travel business, just fries your brain like a egg.
But anyway what we would like to talk about is the Neo Premium collection. A brand new range from Hallis Hudson expanding on the classic Neo range. These curtain poles are a fantastic addition to the Neo range and have a very futuristic appeal to them.

We are very happy to announce our brand new stand at The National Self Build & Renovation Centre!
But wait, what is The National Self Build & Renovation Centre?
Situated in Swindon this is the UK’s ONLY permanent centre for self builders and renovators. The aim of the centre is to aid and advise anyone looking to self build or renovate a property. There are hundreds of stalls filled with the latest products and advice to help with all your building needs. To give an idea of the scale of the centre they even have 2 fully functional house displays in the centre. Definitely worth a visit!
Our new stand (as pictured below)has been up and running for a few weeks now, we’ve been very busy but we’ve just managed to secure some photos!

The Pole Company’s aim at the centre, as well as highlighting our work and services, is to promote our energy efficient products. Our stand has two main sections, firstly the Markilux Awning which we have already mentioned a few times on our blog (these can be seen here and here) and gallery images of our shop display. Secondly we want to highlight S-Craft Shutters, an incredibly energy conscious product that can create perfect light and heat control.
We have expert advisers manning the stall during the week, who are ready to answer all of your questions. However for anyone who finds themselves wanting more information at the stand our advisers will put you in contact with us here at The Pole Company so we can guide you through our products and services in even greater detail.

At The Pole Company we have a fitter. He drives, he measures, he fits and from time to time he’ll even give you advice on anything from curtain poles to awnings.
‘There’s a thousand streets in this city. You don’t need to know the route. You give me a time and place, I give you a five minute window. Anything happens in that 5 minutes I’m yours, no matter what. Anything happens a minute either side of that and you’re on your own. Do you understand?‘
Having an expert fitter on hand who has been in the business for 20 years means he doesn’t get it wrong. With such confidence in our fitter’s ability we are able to offer this free measuring service.
With many past jobs in London and Cornwall, our fitter will drive wherever you need him to be whenever you need him to be there. Our fitter also won’t be leaving you in the lurch if your job runs over or under the scheduled time.
What you can expect from our fitter’s visit is a prompt arrival and pleasant greeting ready to measure whatever you agreed in our shop. Our fitter will then record your measurements and either return to the shop to put together a quote or offer further advice there and then as to what is suitable for your window.
This service is available to anyone but unfortunately due to the reach of our site we have to limit our free measuring and inevitably our fitting service to in shop customers only.

If you’re not sure if you need a measuring service please come and talk to us first; we’d much rather you received a product with the correct measurements than not.

Late last week we had a very special delivery from our friends at Markilux, the brand new Markilux Relax Seat!
The Pole Company has really enjoyed working with Markilux; You may remember that we recently installed a Markilux awning display in our showroom, which you can read all about here or see the pictures in our dedicated gallery item! We were looking at some of their new products and thought that the Markilux Relax was the perfect addition for the shop! But what makes it so special?
The Markilux Relax is a fresh new German engineered seat which arguably makes other garden furniture look obsolete. This modern, versatile and innovative seat has been designed to give maximum comfort while also providing a sturdy and long term solution for multiple uses including outdoor environments.
When first sitting on the Markilux Relax it feels almost like a bean bag. Using a high-quality foam padding consisting of expanded Polypropylene it makes a much more solid seating experience than any bean bag, but not solid enough to cause discomfort or irritation. As you can tell already its not your average chair!

The width of the Relax seat is 60-75cm and its height is 100-125cm. There are 3 types of Markilux Relax the Indoor, Outdoor and Outdoor +.

At The Pole Company we are very enthusiastic about charity. From our time in Bath we have become associated with the charity group Business Against Poverty. Business against poverty, or people against poverty as its otherwise known, are a global organisation of like minded people dedicated to alleviating world poverty. This local international charity runs many projects across the world helping people in extreme poverty through various schemes and activities such as counselling, educational sessions and summer camps for children.
We have been a member for several years now and are always willing to do more for the charity. One project we are currently lending our support to for Business Against Poverty is Dobravat House in Romania. Business Against Poverty alongside the Way of Joy have helped establish a multipurpose centre where the local community can come and work with staff to receive education as well as many other opportunities in order to build a brighter future for themselves. They also offer a children’s summer camp which simply aims to transfer them from their environment for a few days and give them an opportunity to have fun.
The Pole Company are supplying children’s curtains (the picture of which can be seen in our gallery or Facebook album) and a handful of white aluminium curtain tracks to decorate some of the rooms with all free of charge of course. We hope that they will enjoy them and will be posting photos as soon as we can! Just got to make sure our fitter has got his passport in order…

Its been heralded as a once in a lifetime opportunity to see the Olympic Torch as it passes through England this week. Today it is Bath’s turn! It started the day off in Taunton and is slowly making its way to Bristol for a big celebration tonight and we are lucky enough to catch it in between.
Bath itself is busy as expected but there is a fantastic ambience over the city today . Crowds are already forming along the route, with rumours of a legion of deck chairs setup along Great Poultney Street since 11am this morning. As you can imagine people are excited.
One of our staff ran up to the World Record attempt taking place in Victoria Park just in front of the Bath Crescent where people have gathered to form the 5 Olympic Circles. Aiming for a crowd of 5000 people, the attempt fell short of that number with a final total of 2,234 people signed up and present in the circles (possibly still a World Record!). Here’s an image of their attempt below!

Other events have included a number of musical buses. Whether those taking advantage of the occasion to take up a spot of open air karaoke is official or not has yet to be determined. A favourite of these musical buses was what appeared to be a religious vehicle singing what can only be described as a ‘modern’ gospel song. The bass nearly blew our windows out. No exaggeration.
Traffic wardens have also multiplied this morning with a mixture of sunshine, a bustling amount of traffic and even more ‘power’ flowing through their veins than ever before which is making Bath a difficult place to park so watch out if you are planning a trip to Bath today!
We’ve also had a bit of fun here in the shop itself, using a couple of display curtain poles and finials to represent the Olympic Flame! We are hoping people will be inspired today and venture into our shop for an Olympic torch esque curtain pole of their own!
We will attempt to close the shop for about 20mins around 4pm so that the staff can witness the torch passing by! Apologies for the inconvenience! We will also inevitably be posting more pics on our Facebook, Twitter and Google Plus accounts so please join them to see them!
